Ecstasy, Agony, and an IV Drip

First things first: we are back to writing about bizarre clinical encounters because it’s time to return to my roots. Oddly enough, these crazy cases always seem to find me around August—which is highly appropriate, considering I started this very blog in an August past.

Anyway, let’s set the scene

Enter: a couple presenting with a truly peculiar cocktail of complaints. Their symptom list read like a medical mystery:

  • Mild confusion & dizziness

  • Spiraling anxiety

  • Total lack of sleep

  • General listlessness

  • A dash of hypotension

The severity of these symptoms was bouncing back and forth between the two of them like a ping-pong ball. After a little gentle prodding, the confession finally spilled out.

The culprit? MDMA.

And not just a one-off. Oh no, they went for the hat-trick: three consecutive days at a music festival.

The Law of Diminishing Returns

If you know anything about how these things work, you can guess how the weekend went:

  • Day 1 went exactly as advertised: a true trip where every sense was heightened, and the vibes were immaculate.

  • Day 2 arrived with high expectations, but delivered a noticeably watered-down effect.

  • Day 3 was a total dud. The magic was officially gone, replaced by a lingering feeling of absolutely nothing happening.

Then came the ultimate mood-killer: a long-haul flight back to the motherland.

That’s when the serotonin debt came calling, and everything crashed down at once. Panic unpacked its bags and settled in, sleep completely evaporated, worry lines deepened, and their nervous systems started flashing red warning lights. After toughing it out for two agonizing days—praying it would just magically fade—they finally walked through the doors of CoreRestore Infusions searching for salvation.

The Fix & The Plot Twist

We hooked them up with one of our signature hangover flushes—a bespoke cocktail of vitamins, minerals, and chelating agents designed to hit the reset button.

Initially, the husband seemed to be weathering the storm much better than his better half. Both tolerated the IV drip beautifully and went home feeling relieved, crossing their fingers that the worst was behind them.

Plot twist!

By the next morning, the wife had bounced back completely. The husband, however, decided that post-MDMA-comedown-recovery was the perfect time to aggressively exert himself playing a sport. Spoiler alert: it was not. He felt significantly worse, earning himself a ticket back to our clinic for Round Two.

While he was hooked up to his second drip, his wife chilled out beside him, looking 100% back to normal. Fortunately, by the time his IV bag was empty, he was finally out of the woods. They managed to catch their flight back home just in time for a massive, unmissable event. All's well that ends well!

The Moral of the Story: MDMA can't make everyone happy—especially if you try to stretch it over a three-day weekend. Stay away from recreational drugs if you can help it. (But if you do crash, you know who to call).
